Chris Shoemaker 1998
Oct. 1998
Graham County, Arizona
Chris says this buck won’t make book, but it was a very tough hunt. Extremely rough and steep terrain. Luckily he has some hunting buddies to help him pack it out!
The following year he saw another large buck about 500 yards from where he killed this one, but he didn’t get a shot at it.
Rafael Quevedo: 5 yard buck
Mexico
Rafael says this buck came within 5 yards of him! Made for some great photos!
Mike Brown: Prospects look good
July 2008
“He is the biggest of 12 that were hanging out together. After a half hour of waiting for him to get up I got bored and went looking for more bucks and spied 3 more youngsters over the next ridgeI took this shot though 15 power binos at about 200 yards. The prospects for the fall hunt look GREAT !”
David VanHorn: Digiscope
southern AZ
Dave got a couple digiscoped photos of some coues on his hunt. One is a small buck and one is a doe and her fawn.
George Eichman: 2007
Sept 2007
George saw these two bucks pushing each other around just 15 yards in front of his blind while he was archery hunting. He didn’t take a shot at them, but took these fun photos instead.
Mike Barnacastle: 2007
Sept. 2007
Turkey Creek, AZ
Mike got these photos of some bucks just outside his fenceline. Make sure you click on the images to see the larger photos.
Mike Barnacastle: Fenceline buck
Aug. 2007
Turkey Creek, AZ
Mike got these photos of a buck just outside his fenceline.
Amanda Moors: 2006
Jan 2006
Unit 24a, Arizona
This is a really nice 2 point plus eyeguards and some small kicker points. The mass at his bases is excellent! I would guess him to score around 85-90 inches.
Michael Frazier: 2005
Nov 2005
Unit 21, Arizona
Michael has a tag for this unit in Dec. He was out scouting when he saw this buck. The pictures are a bit fuzzy because they are taken through a spotting scope. Mike is hoping to find this buck during the season.
David Henry: 2005
Oct 2005
Unit 24B, Arizona
David got some nice photos of this buck through his spotting scope.
Danny Howard: Spotting scope buck
Danny got these photos by holding his digital camera up to his spotting scope during a scouting trip in Sept. It’s very difficult to get clear pictures this way, but he managed to get some nice ones. I even like the top photo where the buck is out of focus but the plants are in focus. It seems appropriate to represent the grey ghost that haunts the minds of coues deer hunters.
Amanda Moors: Mt. Lemmon buck
July 8, 2005
Catalina Mtns, AZ
This young buck was apparently getting some salt from the soil near some buildings on Mt Lemmon.
Josh Epperson: Spotting scope buck
Dec 27, 2004
Josh got these photos of a doe and a nice buck through his spotting scope.
Jim Parker: Spotting scope buck
Dec 2004
Arizona
Jim spent all day watching this buck and doe. The pictures are taken through a spotting scope, so they are a bit fuzzy. The buck finally got to breed the doe (bottom photo).
Goyo Munoz: Golf Course Buck
Unit 35B, Arizona
Thomas Riesgo sent these photos in that his friend took when they were getting ready to play golf at the Kino Springs Golf Course. Good thing Goyo had a camera handy!
Amanda Moors: Water hole does
Sept 2004
Unit 6A North, Arizona
While scouting for my elk hunt, I sat a tank and saw these two cute fawns come in with their mother.
Scott Adams: Velvet bucks
Aug/Sept 2004
Scott took these photos of bucks in velvet in Unit 27, Arizona.
Mike Fischer: water tank buck
July 2004
These pictures were taken at 11:30 A.M. The buck and two others were coming to drink at a water tank that had actually starting drying up leaving only a muddy bottom.
Mike just happened to spot this buck while driving by. He got out, grabbed his camera and snapped some shots of this really nice buck.
Bryson Bendall
Unit 35A, Arizona
Bryson is 15 years old and an avid hunter. He says he crept within 7 steps of this doe and she didn’t seem to mind. Nice photos Bryson!
Jordan Stailey
Jordan Stailey
New Mexico
This photo of a Coues buck was taken on the Fort Bayard Game Reserve in New Mexico.
Steve Cheuvront
Steve Cheuvront
Steve got these two photos of nice coues bucks. I don’t have the details on when and where the photos were taken. Nice bucks though. The bottom photo was used in the “How to Hunt Coues Deer” book by Duwane Adams and Tony Madile.
Danny Howard: Bedded buck
Danny Howard
I don’t have the details on when and where he took this photo. But he was able to get this photo because they had already shot this buck. They went up to him to finish him off and snapped this photo first. If you look closely you can see blood on the rocks on the left side of the photo behind the deer.
Shadow
Josh Epperson
Josh took this photo around 1999 at the Heritage Park Zoo in Prescott. This buck, named Shadow, has lived there since he was a fawn and Josh thinks he was around 9 years old at the time. The zoo has his antler sets on display. His best set scored in the 120’s. This rack he has in this photo was still partially in velvet and he has drop tine on his left antler. He is probably about 100 inches in this photo. He is very palmated. His third circumference measurements were around 5-7 inches. Great buck. If anyone gets up there, see if this buck is still alive and take some photos of the sets of sheds from him.
Pinal Coues doe
Amanda Moors
October 2003
Pinal Mtns., Arizona
I took these photos during the middle of the day when the does had gotten up to move around. In the bottom photo, one of the does is digging at the base of a shrub.
