Craig Shelley 1998 and 2001
1998 and 2001
Craig sent in photos of his two best Coues bucks, along with that lion photo. One of his Coues is from Mexico, but I am putting it in here just to keep all the photos together.
The second buck is a 4X4 (plus eyeguards) that he took in the US in 1998. He thinks it scored around 100 net.
Ben DalMolin 2004
Dec 2004
Unit 24A, Arizona
Ben would like to thank Tyler and Brandon Leister for their help on this hunt.
Here is what Ben had to say about his hunt:
The deer was about a mile away when we spotted him, he was with two does. My brother and I were hunting, Brandon had went home at Christmas. We spotted this deer on the 24th so we knew he was there. I had also seen 2 nice bucks in there on the second day of the hunt Saturday, but it was so early i passed them up (This was the first deer hunt I have ever passed up deer on). we spotted him and I stalked him for about 45 minutes and I came to a saddle where I couldn’t get any closer. I decided to take a shot and I hit him on the first shot. But not very good. Turns out I hit him in the leg. They were so far away still that they didn’t spook. He was just going where the doe went. I shot two more times and missed. Then I took plenty of time when I knew they weren’t going anywhere and hit him in the lungs.
We had a 400 yd rangefinder hat read 380 yds quite a ways down the hill from where I shot him. I didn’t realize he was so far when I shot him. I guess I was pretty lucky, but it all worked out. On the hunt we saw quite a few deer.
We were glassing one day and watched a guy kill a really small 3 point about 8 or 9 hundred yards away. That was exciting to see. We were watching a bigger buck and they shot a deer below where he was at.
My little brother scored my buck as if his G3 on the right side wasn’t broken and he scored 89 and some change. The deer has a 16 inch inside spread.
Mike Shirley 2003
Dec 2003
Unit 23, Arizona
The inside spread is 20 1/4 inches. It is technically a 3X3 (plus eyeguards), but one of the points on its right side is very small; it unofficially scores 107 5/8. The bases below its eye guards are 5 1/4.
Zack Doster 2004
Nov 2004
This was Zack’s first deer. He was 11 years old and got the tag handed down to him from his father. He has waited years to hunt and wasn’t drawn.
His father Dean says, “I can tell you first hand it’s twice as exciting to watch your child take an animal than taking it yourself”
Ashley Jamarillo 2004
Dec 18, 2004
Unit 27, AZ
This is Ashley’s first-ever deer! She was hunting with her husband, Durand. Due to her job, Ashley only had two days to hunt and they were lucky enough to glass up this buck on the 2nd day. Ashley shot him twice at 422 yards, hitting him well both times. That is pretty amazing when you consider she only had a 4 power scope and she used a .22-250.
The buck scores just under 80 inches. Be assured Ashley won’t settle for anything less next year!
Joe Montano 2004
Junior hunt (December 2004)
Unit 32, AZ

Roy and Marshall Chaidez 2004
Oct. 2004, 2nd day of hunt
Unit 32, AZ
Both deer were shot on the same day. Roy shot his deer about 2 hrs after Marshall got his. Roy got his deer with a shot from his 30-06 at 220 yards while the deer was running. Marshall got his with a .243 at 100 yards. Both deer were together and score about 50 inches. Marshall’s deer is a 3×4 plus eyeguards and Roy’s is a 3×3 plus eyeguards.

Doug says Tom’s is the biggest buck in the family and scores 106 & 5/8. Doug says the best part about it was that the hunting guide for both hunts was his Dad, Dane Wombacher.
