1964!
Ellwood Miller is a 93 year old resident of Globe, AZ and was eager to have this buck scored. He shot this buck back in 1964, about 5 miles West of Young.
I scored this buck and it grosses 104 3/8 and nets 102 2/8, which is big enough to put it in the 3 year B&C awards recordbook. Congratulations Ellwood!!
The buck has about 16 inch main beams and 7 inch 2nd and 6 inch 3rds. First circumferences were about 4 inches.

Fred Smith wrote this about his dad’s hunt:
My dad, Harry, got this deer at 160 yards using a 243. This was the largest of 2 very large deer. It’s green score is 122 1/4. We will be going back next year to hopefully get the buck that was running with this one.
Ray Madrid 2005
Dec 2005
Unit 24B, Arizona
Here is what Ray had to say about his hunt:
Here is a deer I got in 24B. My uncle, dad and brother-in-law also drew tags and all scored. I got him on 12/17. I have to give a big thanks to my buddy Manny. My dad and I both got one on the same day and he along with my uncle and brother-in-law helped us carry them out. It was another successful hunt for me and my family!
Mark Boulanger 2005
Dec 2005
Southern AZ
Here is what Mark had to say about his hunt:
I was lucky enough to draw a tag and fortunate enough to connect on this 121″ brute at 620 yds. He has an outside spread of 19 3/8″ with both main beams almost 19″ea., inside spread of 17 3/8″ and a little trash on the right side. I don’t typically have to shoot that far but the circumstances would not allow me to get any closer. I had a tough time trying to get the light and shadows just right to photograph him but I did get a few decent shots. When they say this is a buck of a lifetime, that’s the truth, I’ve hunted 28 yrs for a Coues buck like this.

He was about 200 yards out, and Derek got him on the first shot. Derek says the buck scores an 87 1/2 and it had 4 points on each side (incl. eyeguards). Derek says he lost one point somewhere.
Ernest Moreno 2005
Dec 31 2005
(aka Indio)
Unit 36A, Arizona
Here is what Ernest said about his hunt:
This was a last day buck, we had hunted hard until Christmas eve and still didn’t come home with a deer. We went home to be with our families and so we decided to come back on the 12-31-05.
We walked into this canyon we had been in to day after day. We saw the buck going over a ridge and a friend lets set up on the west side of the canyon and wait for the buck to circle back and the buck did, so we waited for him to get within 400 yards and the rest is history.
It is great to have friends that will spend 9 days of there time to go out and hunt with me. Thanks to Louie,Mando,Travis and Richard.
Cole Anderson 2005
Nov 2005
Unit 34B, AZ
Here is what Cole’s dad, David, wrote about the hunt:
Here are a few pictures of my son’s deer. He didn’t draw a tag this year so I signed my 34B Nov tag over to him. Cole turned ten in the middle of October. We hunted hard for 5 days straight… then I had to come back to work for a day. On sixth day of hunting he shot his buck. The buck was 354 yards and being stalked by two mountain lions. Cole dropped the buck with one perfect shot. He was shooting a 6mm. Coles deer scores 108”, 19” main beams and carries pretty good mass. Pretty nice first buck!!!
