Here is what Mark had to say about his hunt:
This is my 2nd coues hunt. This deer was taken on Saturday Oct. 28 2006 in unit 6A @ 8:30am just outside of Camp Verde. I spotted him with binoculars and watched him lay down approx. 400 yds away. He had me covered in all directions. Fortunately, after 1 hr of sneaking, I was able to get within 150 to 200 yds. The deer should score somewhere in the 90’s.

Skip Ward 2006
Nov. 2006
Here is what friend Brian Fisher wrote about this hunt:
This is Skip Ward, he is one my close friend’s father. Skip was hunting the same time as Levi and I and had drawn a CHAMP tag. I promised Skip that we would find a deer that he could shoot from the road (legal for CHAMP). I glassed this buck up and told my son (Levi), Levi was very excited to see such a nice Coues buck but after we talked a little about it we both decided to go get Skip and let him have a crack at this buck, well needless to say Skip was extremely happy and Levi and I both agreed that the feeling of letting Skip shoot this buck could never compare to having shot it ourselves!
Skip made a 470yd shot with his .300 win.mag, the buck is a 3×4 plus eyegards. The fellers in the back are Skip’s sons, Joe, Jamie, and Jeff.
Congratulations Skipper!!
Josh Ebert 2006
Nov. 2006
Unit 21, AZ
Josh shot this one on Friday. Glassed him up at first light about a mile away and shot him at about noon. He didn’t finish getting him out till eight o’clock that night. Then when he got back to the truck he found out he had lost his truck keys. So he drove his quad all the way home through the town of cave creek with the deer strapped to the back of the quad; it was about a 40 mile trip. It was a hunt he says he will never forget.

Jeff McCotter 2006
Oct/Nov 2006
Unit 34A, AZ
After several years of trying to fill his very first deer tag, hunter Jeff McCotter was finally able to harvest his first coues, or deer for that matter, an 80 inch Unit 34A coues whitetail. Although the shot was short, at about 80yds, the stalk was long and the pack out was even longer, with just under 4 miles of hiking over rough terrain. Jeff’s brother Chris (right in picture) was there each year along with Jeff while he paid his dues in the hills and was ecstatic to by his side when Jeff took his first buck. A moment that will live in their memories for a lifetime. (Photos submitted by Jeff’s brother, Chris McCotter)
