jamaro Report post Posted August 12, 2008 Lord forgive me for posting to this BUT this is just stupid... Things are going to get more messed up than ever... So now everything is going to be based on politics and not science... Great...
TAM Report post Posted August 12, 2008 This has OIL written all over it. In a perfect world I think things of this nature should be monitored by good scientific facts. The problem I see right now is that those that are in charge of the science part aren't doing a very good job! A perfect example is the wolf situation going on in Wyoming. Another good example of the scientists dropping the ball is the wolf/dog hybrid habitat expansion discssions going on right now in Arizona. It seems to me that often times the so called scientists have a hidden agenda they're trying to accomplish in the name of science. Like introduce more wolves/dogs over a larger area so we can force the forest service to close down more roads so the poor wolf/dogs can be left alone. I think the scientists and politations have intermingled into one big ball of red tape!
DesertBull Report post Posted August 12, 2008 Lord forgive me for posting to this BUT this is just stupid... Things are going to get more messed up than ever... So now everything is going to be based on politics and not science... Great... It's been based on politics since it's inception. Scientist were not running the program, political groups were in complete control. If scientist were controlling it, they would have delisted the Bald Eagle YEARS ago, would have abandoned the Mexican Wolf disaster and would be managing wolves in Yellowstone instead treating them like some sort of mystical symbol of the west. Jimmer Negamanee Report post Posted August 12, 2008 ...so we can force the forest service to close down more roads so the poor wolf/dogs can be left alone. Agreed, in part. But is it better to hunt in an area with more roads or fewer roads?

But is it better to hunt in an area with more roads or fewer roads? I also agree. its amazing how difficult it is to get away from some roads in some areas. Something needed to be done to streamline the endangered species/enviromental impact stuff but I'm not sure if this was the way to do it.
DesertBull Report post Posted August 12, 2008 ...so we can force the forest service to close down more roads so the poor wolf/dogs can be left alone. Agreed, in part. But is it better to hunt in an area with more roads or fewer roads? Once they get the roads closed and the wolves in, their next step will be stop access into the area to give the wolves their "alone time". That's going to be their reasoning of why the White Mountain wolves didn't propagate successfully, too much human activity.
TAM Report post Posted August 12, 2008 Closing the roads is one step closer to closing the forests all together. There are a buncha tree hugger type groups that want the forests closed and they will use all the bogus science they can come up with to get there way. .270 Report post Posted August 12, 2008 anything that takes control away from gov't burrocrats is a good thing. the endangered species act has been a farce since it's inception. science has always taken a back seat to politics and control. and the only scientists that buy into are the ones that are willing to go along with the politics in order to further the control. every time an animal has recovered to numbers even above the original benchmark, the esa and huggers file law suits to keep them on the list. they don't want recovery because with recovery they lose control. just like the bald eagle. it's made an amazing recovery and there so many redundant laws protecting them it that it is a waste of time and money to keep them listed. but they're still there. same with the wyoming wolf. they have more than they ever even hoped for, but it's still there. even tho they've decimated that wildlife in the yellowstone.
