My guess its not Japanese per say its more than one of the islands in the south pacific The Darker skin and the red I'm going to guess and say closer to indian maybe tahiti? Tia land and bannock where a place that had lots of these pcs for sale. We hosted the in laws in our home for years. They had a Durma character figurine and all the Buhddas, Butsudans and Hello Kitties ....
