rugerman Report post Posted July 30, 2008 I was wondering if anyone else has a soft spot for high end knives. If so I'd like to see them. This one is pretty much it for me. D'Holder I plan to use it when I finally draw that early bull tag

SilentButDeadly Report post Posted July 31, 2008 I don't really 'collect' knives, they just seem to find me, Here is a 'Sami' aka, Lapp-lander knife from Sweden, my old man got it for me when I was a teen. Its made of curly maple and reindeer antler, hand forged steel, woven birch sheath. This one I found in the woods of New Mexico -- I assume the psycho-murderer who was carrying it dropped it on his way back to the car after burying the body(s)..... I particularly like the 'custom' handle....
fatfootdoc Report post Posted July 31, 2008 My father in law is a custom knife maker and he is a stud at it. He has made us a few, I had one made out of the antler of one of the elk I have killed as does my wife. He and my son are going to make one together here in the next few months. Talk about spoiled. It is nice when you can pick your steel and the materials on the handle. AG

A $30 Schrade Old Timer is the best knife I dare put in my pack.
rugerman Report post Posted July 31, 2008 Now we got rolling... SBD, that Laplander blade is way cool.....I bet someone was hacking up elk quarters with that saw. AG you gotta post up a pic of those elk antler blades DB I hear you my pack knives are a Schrade and a Gerber Gator oneshot that Randall is a beauty..... what's the story behind that Bowie? How did you come about getting it? Casey do you use that Bark River? Also did you sell that blade you bought and had instant buyer's remorse?

More D Report post Posted August 1, 2008 I love knifes. They are like a cheaper outlet of buying cool stuff because I can't yet afford to buy all the guns and rifles I want. I rarely spend more than $60 on a knife but I have 'lots' according to my wife. It is only around 10-12 from 2 inch blade up to 8. I too have lost a few, like six, that is why I limit how much I spend on each. Now a days they seem to be looked at as "weapons" instead of just a plain old pocket knife. They are fun though!
