schmalts Report post Posted July 29, 2008 I am flying into Tucson christmas day for my Muzz hunt in 35A-B. I cannot take powder or primers on the plane. I want to hunt on the morning of the 26th, so is there a wal-mart that is open 24hours that sells pyrodex pellets and primers?? Any help would be great. ghost hunter Report post Posted July 29, 2008 Doubt you would find one open 24/7 on Christmas. The next day you could get a Walmart or Sportsman's Warehouse.
bobbyo Report post Posted July 29, 2008 Walmarts here do not carry any kind of black powder or primers. The only sure bet would be sportsman warehouse which is unfortunately 20 miles in the wrong direction and will not open until 9:00. I would help you out on Christmas, but I will be out of town. If you have to do that, you will probably have a hard time getting to your unit before 11:00 breaking speed limits.

Maybe I can find someone that I can send a small amount of pellets and primers to and they can do a stash someplace for me, but where and who? anyone up for putting out a geocache? Snapshot Report post Posted July 29, 2008 I live on the nothern edge of unit 34a, you are welcome to ship it to my house and pick it up on your way out. It is a straight shot from the airport down old nogales highway to Sahuarita road and then not to far east to Sonoita highway which takes you right to 35a/b. ichiban43 Report post Posted July 29, 2008 Brent-- I'd like to commend you on your outstanding gesture to aid a fellow hunter. That really did a lot to bolster my faith in mankind--by golly there are some good people out there still. Again--outstanding gesture!!! BOB

War7664 Report post Posted July 29, 2008 Is this a new regulation? Last year, I hunted out of state with my muzzleloader and I didn't have any problems flying with primers or pellets.
schmalts Report post Posted July 29, 2008 Is this a new regulation? Last year, I hunted out of state with my muzzleloader and I didn't have any problems flying with primers or pellets. You may not have had a problem, but it was illegal. Loose powder is considered an explosive. Snapshot, I really appreciate the offer, I will have to touch base with you on the phone sometime soon and arrange the shipping of the stuff if it comes to that. This will help out big time and get me hunting the morning after Christmas. Pat
wklman Report post Posted July 30, 2008 it might just be easier to have Brent buy some powder and primers here since it can be expensive to ship primers and powder (i.e. hazardous materials charges for both). Wade

Wade I was just about to offer that.I live literally 500 yards from the only Sportsmans Warehouse in Tucson. Let me know.
Snapshot Report post Posted July 30, 2008 The supplies can be shipped or delivered to my house, but sportsmans wh is an 80 mile round trip for me.

KGAINES Report post Posted July 30, 2008 Those are some great offers, I think the closest wal-mart to where you will be hunting will be in Sierra Vista, you can probably call them if you have to to see if they carry the stuff you need, but snapshots offer on the start of your hunt might be your best option. Good luck on your hunt. Wal-Mart Store #1240 657 State Hwy 90 Sierra Vista, AZ 85635 (520) 458-8790
