Checked the cam no pictures

Recommended Posts

Well i went up to my site to check my cam and there was no pictuers?Which was kind of strange because two weeks before i had 421 pictures in one week!As i got to my cam i noticed that some salt had beed placed on my site.It was no big deal at that time until i pulled my card 0 pictures! To say the least i was very upset that someone would do something like that. However they didn't take my cam but they deleted my pictures. The reason i say this is because i had 18 different bucks and 3 of them would have went over 90 inches i feel!My question is this with all the land to hunt on why would someone just try to takeover someone eles spot! Thanks for reading josh bass pro archery department.

That sux. I think I am more worried about someone finding my spot that stealing my camera. I can manage to lose a hundred bucks. I would hate to have some idiot find my spot and tell his friends about a honeyhole i have hundreds of dollars of gas and tons of time into. When i see a salt or cam I turn around and find a new spot. I found some pretty sweet spots that i just leave alone. 18 different bucks is alot. I'm sure you had your time put in there.

I noticed how you refer to the piece of land as "my site". Is it privatly owned property by you? If it's public land why do you believe you have the right to claim it's use? When I scout out a good area and happen to stumble upon a camera I by no means consider it unhuntable area. I would check to make sure I didn't wonder onto private land.

Regardless, it's sad to hear that someone had the nerve to mess with your camera (assuming it didn't just malfunction on it's own).

Maybe I'll go post a camera in front of TD's Topless Showclub. Does that make the joint mine? JK!

That is a good point. The price of gas, food, and time off is the real money. If you think of it that way a trail cam is pocket change. Not to mention the sick feeling you might get when someone finds your "SECRET SPOT"! If I were you I would keep going back to that spot in hopes that you can push that other inconsiderate prick out. Don't back down and make your presence known and hopefully the other guy will leave you to hunt your spot. (after-all you were there first) Good luck!

I don't have the most secure system for locking up my cameras but it will keep the honest people honest.

I do not know what camera you have but I can run a padlock threw the camera so the door can not be opened without busting it all to crap.

Glad you did not loose your cam but may want to find a way so skum can not open it.

I have bought a bunch of Really cheep cameras to put up on the most likely trails into my spots to try and catch the skum when they least expect it.

Cost me a buck or two but if I can have one piece of crap busted it will be worth it.

Nothing I hate more then seeing someone else drive a quad upto a spot I've hiked 1.5 miles into. I agree the time you put into a spot is valuable. I would keep hunting it and hopefully you can be in there before that other hunter (i.e. camera fiddling A-hole). Come hunting season, hopefully he will see you and just move on. Good luck!

p.s. With regards to the pole, treat someone elses stuff as you would want your stuff treated! Just my take.

This is a super sticky issue......we covered this topic last year in some detail. It becomes difficult because it's public land. When you both show up to hunt it opening morning whoever gets there first gets the spot.......it doesn't matter how much time, effort, fuel, money etc. that you've spent.....it's public domain.

Now the issue of messing with other people stuff.....well that's another thing. We all know society has changed. Most of the time it's been for the worse. Now I don't know about anyone else but I was taught if it's not yours keep your hands off!!!!!

ill be in ur spot on thurs. night  pm me so i can suggest to you where to hang your tree stand.

I had a run in 4 times last year with a sheriff at a hunting area we agreed to share but it wasnt too long before.... i came back to notes on my truck and posted private land signs on BLM i eventually got sick of being in my treestand and hearing him cough and talk on his cell im sure he was trying to be quite... any way I started a new area and it is turning out to be a a great spot.. so hopefully it doesnt come to that but a nice spot can be easily ruined by one indivudual. good luck!

Well that saves me the walk from the fine gun room to archery to find out what ya got on the camera. That sucks but at least ya still got the camera. id say scrap it and get a bit deeper in but not to far.....maybe sabatoge your old salt spot.

here's the idea....

Hunters come in one of two flavors: Courteous, decent, and respectful... or malicious, conniving, and revengeful. We each know which of the two we are, but you're defined by what you do.

hope you are still able to enjoy your hunt - that is really what it's all about - or 'sposed to be anyway
