Dan Report post Posted July 24, 2008 Well I said if I got a tag I would buy me a new rifle for coues!! Got a tag(24 b ) .so I went and bought a Tikka T-3 SS lite 25/06 and a Nikon Monarch BDC 2.5-10x42. Been using a 243 and explained to the wife I needed a little more omph at longer ranges. (Good excuse) Now all I gotta do is work up some loads. I going to try 100 gr sierra and 110 gr nosler acu-bond. What powder are some of you using? Got some IMR 4350. Heard R-22 works well with the 25/06.This is my first 25/06.
firstcoueswas80 Report post Posted July 24, 2008 I had some success with H4350 in my 25/06. Right now I am working with H1000 for my .257 wby. Ramshot Magnum, abd R-22 are next inline if H1000 doesnt pan out.
wklman Report post Posted July 24, 2008 I have a lot of luck with IMR 4350 and my buddy uses IMR 4831 in his 25-06. I watched him shoot a buck at 550 yds with his quarter bore. it was the longest shot i've ever seen on a coues deer. it was sweet because i got to see the vapor trail going all the way to the buck. i'll have to email him and see exactly what load he uses. Please excuse my ignorance, what is quarter bore? Perhaps as in 0.25 of a hole bore?

Schmitty Report post Posted July 25, 2008 I like IMR 4350 with the 100 grain bullets and use H4831sc with the 110's and have had outstanding results with both out of my 25-06. However that gun shoots pretty much everything well.
Couesdeer Report post Posted July 27, 2008 Ditto on the H4831sc with 110s - 120s... Outstanding results!
Dan Report post Posted August 1, 2008 Well, I got out to the range to try several loads and had some good results with your advice on powders !!Best of the best was 50.5 gr of IMR 4350 with 110 gr accu-bond bullets. Two 5 shot groups under 1 MOA with one group .7 Now all I gota do is find a nice buck to shoot Did not try H4831 sc but may sometime later .
