bigorange Report post Posted November 23, 2020 I always think these are cool to see and have seen 2 recovered from bucks this year. Thought I'd share in case others are interested. 120 grain Hornady GMX 6.5CM recovered from mule deer. Thought it might have retained more weight, but almost 90%. Hornady SST 7mm mag recovered from coues buck. Not sure the grain, but seems to have stayed together pretty well.

Highly underrated bullet in my opinion. 154’s and 162’s are fantastic bullets for the price in a 7 mag. 139’s in a 7mm-08 ...... Terminal Ballistics website does a lot of real world testing in New Zealand culling goats , hogs and red deer. Their data is pretty un biased and based on real world. In my real world they are minute of blood on the mountain accurate.
CraigK Report post Posted December 7, 2020 I’ve shot the 162 sst on deer prior to switching to the 180 hybrids out of my 7mm mag. I’ve never had an issue with them on game that I shot from 200-600. never recovered a bullet though, they have all been pass through. I agree, they are a great bullet and a great price. IA Born Report post Posted December 7, 2020 Managed to recover one bullet from my daughter's bull back in 2017. 140gr Barnes TTSX from her 7mm-08. Recovery weight was 139.9, but my scale kept bouncing between 139.9 and 140.
