60 ended at dobson rd in 1980.  i was working at the huge Levitz Furniture store on dobson and broadway.  had my first whiskey at that chinese rest/bar on the ne corner.

i got fired by Texs' son Hal for making a pass at his girlfriend in 1987.

I didn’t grow up in Phoenix, but being an Arizona native, I would come down for school shopping, doctor appointments, and visiting relatives at least twice a year.  I remember the orange trees on 17 and Ladmo bags.  There were only 2 million or so people back then and the only area code for the whole state was 602. I think the oranges were ornamental and didn’t taste good.

Citrus is/was one of the five C's of Arizona.

There used to be a mall at 59th and Northen.

Dove Hunting at Dysart Road and Thomas. Thomas was a dirt road out there. 

Phoenix Trap and Skeet club on Indian School.

Target shooting at 67th ave & happy valley. 

Orange groves everywhere.

We had real monsoons in Phoenix with real rain and lightning storms. Now they never seem to make it past Mesa because of the heat island. 

Cars didn't have air conditioning so 245 air was all you had.

Zonkeys at the ranch at 43rd and grand and camelback.    My freind from Alhambra lived there.
