Roosevelt Mark Report post Posted November 9, 2020 I'm a boss, unfortunately. Be a mentor and if they respect you they will trust you and work for you. Of course I'm talking about the keepers not the people that don't want to work. They don't last long.
stanley Report post Posted November 9, 2020 +1 on the leader vs. boss. A boss, well 'bosses'.... A boss tells people what to do. A boss monitors and tells workers when they are screwing-up without offer support or help on how not too. A boss places blame on their team, as opposed to 100% support A boss is bossy. LOL A leader motivates & inspires. A leader takes ALL the heat. A leader supports. A leader listens more than they speak. A leader learns. A leader asks their team what else they need to get the work done. A leader breaks-down barriers that their team is facing. Etc.... Good luck in the new job! 1

Those are the two things I’m talking about in my first meeting.

sherman Report post Posted November 9, 2020 Set the bar right off the bat don't think your being a good boss by working up to what you expect. Set it higher then you want. Be willing to help. When I was 23 I ran a finish carpentry crew some guys had been in the trade longer then i had been alive i gave respect when needed and chewed their butt when needed I would help in anyway I could. Let them know you would never ask them to do something you can't do or haven't already done. But there is a reason your job has promoted to that job. Keep a good head and you will do good

CatfishKev Report post Posted November 9, 2020 Finally you dont have to work off of your knees anymore! Seriously though congrats. Its tough being a perfectionist and a boss at the same time. Its not always fun and there is a reason that your increased pay is there, you are going to have to earn it. Your biggest hurdle will be work ethics... uggg. Good luck buddy!
