DANGEROUS SITUATION!!

Recommended Posts

You know I only wear orange in very special situatuions, that particular day that the guy point his rifle at us I decided to wear orange because I knew we were going to hunt/glass close to the road and we knew there was a posibility to see other hunters there, that's why we decided to wear orange. We were wearing orange hats only not orange vest but since that day I think I'm going to start wearing and orange vest also because I think for some "people" the orange hat is not enough.

I wear orange when:

There are more hunters around. If there are more hunters around and I dont have any orange on my I let them know I'm there by signals with my mirror and once they see me I wave at them.

When I'm carrying my deer.

Coming down the mountain in mid-day or going up the mountain in mid-day so if there is somebody around there they can see me.

When I'm doing a "deer drive" or when others are doing the deer drive and I'm the one waiting for the deer.

I like to climb to my favorite spots in the dark and when I'm doing this a wear no orange unless I come down in mid day like I said before.

Good luck everybody and safe hunts.

What ever happened to the rules ''be sure of your target and beyond'', ''Always point your rifle in a safe direction'', and ''treat every gun as if it were loaded.'' Hunter need to recap on the basics so we can cut down on people taking on in the shirt. That sucks. I would of been so mad I don't know what I would of done.

I just don't understand what the heck these people think they are seeing!!!! What.... they just see movement and react? How do they even know if it's a deer or not. I know when I catch movement the first thing I raise is my binos! I just don't understand how people can be so DUHHH!

Since the shooting on the San Carlos Reservation. It is now mandatory to wear hunter orange covering 40% of your body. Effective immediately, for any type of hunting on the reservation. I don't know if this would have stopped the boy getting shot, but it would have probably helped.

Now more than never,it should be mandatory that people pass the Hunter Safety Course. Not every hunter has one and not every hunter know the golden basic rules or 10 commandments.

Something needs to be done, this accident(s) should be a wake up call for every body. May the Lord bless and give phisical and spiritual strenght to those familys in pain.

Ernesto,

Sorry to hear about that scary deal. Did you think to contact AZGFD and give them a description of the vehicle/driver etc??? Pointing a gun at another person is careless use of firearms at a minimum and, depending upon the circumstance, could be charged as a felony. A conviction on the careless use would probably would get the fella revoked for 5 years. That's 5 potential tags that someone else can have instead of that knucklehead, who apparently doesn't deserve the privilege to hunt like us legal guys.

Couesi1, things happened really quick, the only thing I remember is that was a brown extended cab ford truck. We couldn't see license plate. We never got to see the driver, the guy the point his rifle at us came out of the passenger side and is wasn't that close. We were concentrating in helping my brother Mike to get his coues;but yes if I happened to see the license plate or knew where those guys were camping yes I would have them reported to Game and Fish.
