DANGEROUS SITUATION!!

Recommended Posts

Guest Ernesto C

We were hunting 36C this past season in November. We (my brother Toni,Mike and my self) started hiking around 2:00 pm for a evening hunt/glass.We had going up hill for about 60 or 70 feet when we noticed a brown ford truck drive by below us about 100 yards away from us when suddenly (the next events happened really fast) the truck stop a guy quickly comes out of the passenger side runs about 7 steps, gets on kneeling position and point his rifle at us!!!! What the ?????? I quickly wave at him with my orange stocking cap and told my brother Toni to do the same thing with his orange hat!! Then I guess the guy realize we were not deer he quickly went back to the truck, they drove the truck in reverse for a few feet, turn around and got out of there really fast.

Wow!! talking about close call,I was completly atonished!!(spelling?) I could not believe what just happened I told my brothers, did this guy mistake us with deer or what?? The orange stocking cap and hat we were earing was easyli visible.

A good friend of mine told me:the next time this happen to you,you do the same thing to him and tell your brothers to do the same so he will see 3 rifles pointing at him.

That specific day me and Toni we were not carrying rifles any more because we already tagged our bucks.

I just hope this never happen to any of you my fellow members,is a bad feeling.

God bless you all and God bless CWT.com

Just saw on the news tonight (Ch. 12) where a 11 or 12 year old kid was killed by his 15 year old brother while hunting deer on the SanCarlos. Did'nt catch the whole story but apparantly the brother heard something in the brush and fired, it was his brother. Terribly sad and tragic story for what seemed like a really great family. Be safe out there and if you've got youngens get em to a hunter safety class asap. Thoughts and prayers to the family.

I have a story like that. My friend and I were walking on a trail coming back from a morning hike and we sarted hearing gun shots. We stopped and waited a while but we couldn't tell the direction in which they were coming from. So we decided to get back to the truck as fast as we could. When we got back to the truck we noticed at the other end of the clearing there was a group of guys shooting into the woods right where the trail was. We must of walked right though their line of fire. I was pissed but, they were using the mountain as a backstop and didn't know we were there. I guess the angels were looking over my shoulders that day.

That crap goes on way to often. I have a friend that took a shot in the shirt as he was going up a steep hill and on all fours. it shot right through the loose part of his shirt hanging between him and the ground. Be safe out there.

That had happened to me on my elk hunt last year except it was a fathere with his son and I could hear and see the dad pointing at me and saying shoot shoot. I then grabbed my orange vest and started to wave it then I saw him and his son start to walk away fast.

FYI:

If your in 34A about 12 miles (Josehine Canyon) in off the Patagonia/ Nogales highway be carefull of a property owner in a wheelchair carrying a scoped rifle. According to AZG&F he is known for shooting at IA's and hunters getting close to his land, I did see him... this was about three years ago..vml

This relates to the thread about hunters wearing flannel and jeans rather than camo, anything to be seen. Too many foolish people running around the mountains

I have never had this happen to me, but it is scary just reading about it, and gets my blood boiling. I think that if I ever witnessed someone pointing their rifle at me, they would see me giving them a big finger in return, followed by some well chosen obscenities. This is a good example of why we should all carry binoculars and use them! Everyone be safe, and remember to watch out for the other guy, cause there are lots of idiots out there.

Ernesto, years ago 1999, my buddy and I were hunting in 36c on the King Anvil ranch. We were set up over the top of a ridge when we heard the wiz of a bullit go right over the top of our heads and the report of a rifle. We looked at each other and both said what was that? Seconds later it happend again. I stood up and 100 yds. away was a guy standing there pointing his rifle in our direstion. I started waving my arms and yelled What are you shooting at? His reply, I think it was a cayote? What? You think? Scared us half to death. Thankfully I have half left. After that he continued to walk right through the canyon we were glassing and we switched to plan b and were successful that afternoon in a different canyon. Sorry to hear later that he fell and broke his ankle. the doctor said it was broke I think? I love that ranch. Where did you camp?
