Non-Typical Solutions Report post Posted October 27, 2020 First disclaimer, I am not well versed in archery or methodology! I'm old and only pull 60lbs. I shoot a Mission Craze. I have previously used a gold tip 5575/400. My current arrow length is 29" What does going to a 30" arrow do to arrow flight, speed etc.? Thanks for any help and........don't throw any darts at me
DUG Report post Posted October 27, 2020 It will flex more. But will also add energy because it weighs more. If you are shooting 340 spine at 29" might want to go to 300 spine for 30". That's about all I know.
creed_az_88 Report post Posted October 27, 2020 Weaken spine. Decrease arrow speed slightly. Increase energy slightly. You're basically going to add 9 inches of weight or so to your total setup. That will have minimal effect whatsoever. The only benefit i see would be to help with clearance on your rest or something like that. The weakening of the spine may help or may hurt your tuning depending on your setup but it most likely won't effect it at all.
Non-Typical Solutions Report post Posted October 27, 2020 Thanks to both......I couldn't imagine it being that big of a variance but like I said......don't know much about the technicalities!!!! Appreciate it!!!
mattys281 Report post Posted October 27, 2020 I would guess it’ll shoot fine and group right with your others at short ranges. I’ve noticed a difference in point if impact on arrows that were supposed to be the same (but from different batches) at 40 yards. Only a couple inches but enough to make me crazy. A micrometer and grain scale revealed that my new arrows were .003” smaller diameter and 15 grains lighter.
