John O Report post Posted July 15, 2008 I will share with you my ancient Chinese trout catching secret (even though I learned it from a redneck from Louisiana). I was up there last month and caught a 12 and 13 inch brown, and a 10 inch rainbow in two hours. Here is how you set up your line. Slip sinker, swivel, 3-4 feet of line, med size hook. Bait your hook with 3 items- First a garlic marshmallow, second a small piece of worm, and then put a salmon egg on the tip covering the barb. Cast it out as far as possible. Let it sink to the bottom, then reel it in until the swivel snugs up to the slip sinker. Give the line some slack, so when they hit the bait, there is no resistance. The marshmallow makes the bait float, and the combination of the three baits drives them wild! Don't set the hook on the first tug, because they are just nibbling on the little buffet you have set up for them. On the 3rd or 4th tug, set it and reel them in. I have caught them all times of the day this way. Good luck!
