PhxDT Report post Posted September 24, 2020 I want to go shooting in the desert; work a half day during the week and head out after. Maybe some skeet shooting, but generally nothing more than a 50 yrd shot. I work up in Scottsdale, and was wondering if it's better to go through Fountain Hills and out to Mt Ord and shoot there (about 1 hr drive) or better to just head up to 17 to Bloody Basin Rd and shoot there (about the same distance). I never stop short of Cordes Junction on the 17 or Payson up the 87, so curious your thoughts. Thx

Swivelhead Report post Posted September 24, 2020 Still hot & dry. Call the ranger district in which you'd like to shoot and have a conversation.

Jazz Report post Posted October 1, 2020 Coconino is probably the closest? Maybe somewhere north of Camp Verde. Fire restrictions in place.. shooting is ok.
HorseHunter Report post Posted October 7, 2020 Now if the request was the best place to shoot skeet WITH handguns, that would be awesome! Except the current ammo shortage prohibits me in taking part for now......
Mog Report post Posted October 8, 2020 Clarification question, are we currently allowed to shoot recreationally in the lower deserts (Florence for instance)? Where can I find this information at?

galiuro mountain man Report post Posted October 11, 2020 At least most clays are just that and disappear. Beer bottles are there forever, usually part of why the state or blm says you can't target shoot in areas anymore.
