Wac em vs. Striker

Recommended Posts

Plan on shooting the Wac 'em 3 blade broadhead this season but would like any input you guys might have on comparing them to the 4 blade, or the G5 Striker that i've been seeing around a lot lately. Any one have experience with all three of them? How do they fly in comparison to field tips? The only thing that has me concerned with the Wac 'ems are the smaller cutting radius.

Any input would be appreciated.

I have never stuck anything with Wac'em's but I carried them for my pig hunt. They flew spectacular! The same as my field tips!

I shoot the striker 125's, and really like em. They fly really well, and are dangerous sharp. I shot my cow elk last year at 55 yards or so, and the striker blew through and busted 2 ribs in the process. I dont have any experience with the wacums, so I cant compare them, but think those strikers are hard to beat. IMO

WacEm's is what I use. Blew threw 1 bull, 3 javs, and 1 mule deer. If you look at the two heads they are basically the same. I thought WacEms brought a suit against G5 for coping it (that is not confirmed, but its in my memory).

They fly true as my field points out past 50 yds. I like the replaceable blades. If I did not have so many three blade WacEm's I would try the four blade.

The Striker Magnums look pretty devastating.

I have tried other heads (Magnus, Slick Tricks, Rage, and Muzzy) but I like the WacEms the best., followed by Magnus.

If money was no object, I would like to try the SliverFlames: http://www.german-kinetics.com/html/broadheads.html

I find it kind of interesting that the Striker is so similar to the Wac'em. From an ititial glance, it totally appears that G5 stole the design from Wac'em. I haven't investigated the broadhead enough to determine if there are some minute technical differences that might possibly separate the two.

I've mainly shot Wac'ems and Sliok Tricks. I'll be shooting Slick Tricks from now on. Have had much better luck with them, and they've made very big holes with very nice blood trails. Both shoot just like my field tips.

At first I had some concern with wackem's size but shot them and found they shoot better than anything I've tried. I have been using them since a worker at Archery Headquarters told me he used them on his bear hunt in Alaska. They have killed a half dozen or so critters for me without any problems the past few years.

I have not shot the G5 striker or the tricks.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Is there a difference in the 3 blade and 4 blade Wac'ems as far as shooting? Was thinking that with the smaller cutting diameter that an extra blade might be beneficial but think a straighter shooter would help more.

I shot the wacems and striker for almost 4 months before I determined that I wanted to shoot the striker. Both flew identical, wacem had the idea first which was an incentive to stay with them,, BUT the STRIKER is scary sharp out of the box, the wacem did not compare, that is why I shoot the striker.

Rob you copied my other set up why not continue? :) If you need a bigger hole, the tricks are awesome, and again sharper than the wacems...

I shoot the Silver Flames in 100 grain for Coues deer and 125 grain for elk... BUT I have also shot those Stryker Magnums and they are pretty awesome...
