New boats maiden voyage

Recommended Posts

Well we floated our new fishing boat last night , I took all 4 of my kids( ) ranging from 6-11. My son got a crash course in using the trolling motor so I could go park the truck and trailer. Other than the fact that my 6 year old was yelling that she thought the boat was sinking, he did a good job. So I climbed in and away we went. The bow mounted trolling motor worked great once I got the right foot pressure going(few very sharp turns!! We got to the anchor and it was good and dark now and put over the lights. My 6 year old has now decided that boat is definitely sinking and she wants to go back home and pee, So my 10 year old girl catches the first fish and of course we HAVE to keep it, so then the race was on, we caught several fish, my 6 year old trout slapped me in the side of the face(she was swinging her fish over to me to get it off the hook, except I was setting the hook on one and was not looking!!!) we had one fish swim under the boat while hooked and get tangled with another ones line, my kids all learned the hazards of the fish flipping around on the line in the boat while pooping(several spray marks on everyone), they learned that fish do bleed(and spray while flipping!), they learned to not unhook your pooping fish while holding it over your open bag of doritos! and consequently learned what fish poop tastes like! My oldest daughter learned that while fighting the biggest fish of the night, dont let it hang over the lake while waiting for dad to get if off the hook(still swimming at this moment), And most of importantly, pee before you get on the boat!!

What I learned-- That what I paid for the boat was the best money I ever spent!!

That's funny right there.  What better way to break in your new fishing rig. Thanks for sharing and don't forget to have them youngins start a fishing journey so they can remember this trip when they're your age.

Just think of all the memories you are about to accumulate. :D
