Posting pics in the forum

Recommended Posts

I need to set a few guidelines for posting your photos in the forum. I realize people enjoy this way of sharing photos. However, if you have a coues deer photo you want to post, it would be better if you email it to me to post in the photogallery of the main website along with the hunt information. There are two reasons I am asking this:

1. That way the photo is not posted twice on the server and it is not taking up double the space (which costs me money). You can still make a post in the forum that shows your picture after I put it in the photogallery. What I will do is email you the URLs for the photos and you can insert them into your post using the IMG button. That way you are linking to where it is on the server, not actually double posting. It's simple and will show the photos well.

2. The other reason is that the pictures in the forum tend to get lost to the general viewer because of the new posts that essentially "push down" the old posts. The posts are still there, but not listed high up on the viewing list so they won't be seen much after a week or so. With the photogallery we are creating a more permanent record of whitetail bucks that anyone can look through regardless of how long ago the picture was posted.

So I am asking everyone's help with this. If you have a photo of a coues deer then email it to me with all the interesting info about it (score, date shot, unit, shot distance, other bucks with it, etc). After I get it posted in the photogallery, I will send the URL and you can link to it for posting in the forum.

If you have other images you would like to post, like a mule deer or other animal you got, then go ahead and post it here in the forum since I don't have a section for that in the photogallery.

If anyone has any questions about this policy, let me know.

Thanks.

Amanda

I wanted to test uploading a photo. I am trying to figure out this new feature so I can explain it....

If you want to upload a photo that you wouldn't normally put in the main photogallery of this site, you can upload it here. When you start a post, look near the bottom of the screen for the section relating to File Attachments. Attachments must be less than 100kb to get posted. Dimensions of the photo aren't important, just total file size. Find your file on your hard drive using the browse button. Click add this attachment. After you do that, look down under where you did that and you should see your file listed. Then click to the right where it says add file into post. It will add the photos into where you have your cursor in the screen. So you can decide where you want the photo to go by placing your cursor there before you hit the add to post button.

After doing that, look at the bottom of the screen for the Preview Post button and click on that and see if your photos show up.

Here are a couple great photos that Scott Adams sent me awhile back. Eventually I hope to have a photogallery section for photos like this that aren't Coues deer, but are things people took photos of on a hunt.

Amanda, ever get the feeling you're talking to yourself?

I know what you mean about talking to yourself. Truth is for the computer generation, we "chat" with ourselves.

This is Really sick, but tonight, My wife is using the Desktop PC, I am 5 feet from her using a laptop, and my daughter is about 6 feet from me using another laptop, and we are all on the internet.

My wife and Daughter are msn Chatting and laughing about it "through me" .

Heck they hardly use the telephone becuase they like to "chat" better.

20 years ago people would have never believed that would happen.

Times are a changin!
