Kilimanjaro Report post Posted June 11, 2008 the punishment didn't fit the crime though... his fine was less than what it would cost you or I to hunt one LEGALLY in Mexico!! He got off WAY too easily.
DesertBull Report post Posted June 11, 2008 His excuse was he was under much stress at the time. I had much stress this morning when I filled up my gas tank, but I didn't wack a Gould's to relieve it.
Outdoor Writer Report post Posted June 11, 2008 the punishment didn't fit the crime though... his fine was less than what it would cost you or I to hunt one LEGALLY in Mexico!! He got off WAY too easily. Hmmm. Unless I read it wrong, the fine for the violation was as stated below: Anderson was found guilty by the Cochise County Justice Court #5 for: Count A: Knowingly take wildlife during closed season (Gould’s turkey); and sentenced Count A: Fined $942.00, $314.00 of which was suspended per county attorney plea agreement and Judge’s Order. BUT...the reimbursement of the turkey's value to G&F was just a bit more than a turkey hunt in Mexico would cost, as in: THAT THE DEPARTMENT BE DIRECTED TO COLLECT CIVIL DAMAGES OR TO BRING CIVIL ACTION AGAINST RALPH E. ANDERSON TO COLLECT THE AMOUNT OF $5000.00 FOR THE LOSS OF ONE (1) GOULD’S TURKEY Since he claimed to have eaten it, that was one expensive Thanksgiving dinner at $5,628. It would have probably been cheaper to kill a spotted owl. -TONY

couesdiehard Report post Posted June 11, 2008 The stress defense didn't work very well Lark, so I recommend trying the self-defense defense.... "The gobbler was obviously hopped up on 'roids and came at me with spurs-a-flying. The gobbler said he was going to kill me like the many fighting roosters he killed in Mexico before he was deported to Arizona! I felt my life was in danger! It was either the gobbler or me. NRS Report post Posted June 12, 2008 Its hard to believe that he was under a lot of stress if he was filming all of his exploits for "commercial" purposes. Sounds like he really needs some time away from all other people {as in solitary confinement in jail}
daryl_s Report post Posted June 12, 2008 How retarded would you feel if you shot a turkey decoy illegaly and got caught ???? Absolute morons .
