Guest Norm Clark Report post Posted July 28, 2003 Hi, I've been drawn for the mid-season Unit 33 hunt and am concerned about the effects of the recent Aspen fire. Normally I hunt the north side of the Catalina's near Peppersuace Canyon but am open to suggestions. I like to hike in and glass but prefer to get away from the crowds. I've written the Region V office for suggestions and also contacted the Catalina District (USFS) for suggestions as to which areas will probably not be accessable this fall. So far, they haven't been able to give much guidance but perhaps will be able to later this fall. I'm looking for anyones ideas for some early scouting. Thanks, Norm C. Wyorawhide Report post Posted July 29, 2003 Well in the preceding two years, All of the Catalina Mountains have burned. By sugestion would be to hunt the Bullock fire burn. Should be plenty of feed. On good authority I have been told to try the Buehman canyon area. Old burns produce some pretty good deer. Glassing is more important than walking. Glasses are just as important as the rifle.
