5guyshunting Report post Posted August 19, 2020 When they want to hunt and shoot a gun they need to be ready for the recoil. It's AMERICAN.

I wasnt aware of the youth hunt, thats what I was getting at; been in eligible for youth hunts long enough that I dont remember regs and dont have kids yet. Typed words dont do a very good job of portraying sarcasm. I agree 243 is a great cartridge and very capable
HyNoon Report post Posted August 19, 2020 Both of my kids shoot a 6.5 CM in a ruger American predator with brake and has very little recoil. I have found that the dpms .308 brake works really well and is a good bang for its buck.
452b264 Report post Posted August 19, 2020 Out of the two I would brake the 6.5. With the right bullet and shot placement I do think the 243 is a very capable round I had one when I was a kid, I have been thinking of getting another one maybe a 6 mm CM since they come with a faster twist.
