SilentButDeadly Report post Posted May 29, 2008 My wife and I took a trip up to red rock country this weekend, got out for a morning of shed hunting, and my Viszla finally found his first antler (without my help). I'm still waiting for him to bring me a Coue's shed unannounced... Pictures:

SilentButDeadly Report post Posted May 29, 2008 Neo , It's still bone and only a sign of more to come of the coues variety. Nice looking dog! I see some brown on the one side ! AzP&Y Word! bone is bone! It definitely came home with us.. I've found too many in National Parks and Preserves that I've left laying to leave a sweet National Forest find... Briggs is a good looking dog -- I wish I hadn't been so hasty in snipping him, poor feller... It was a brownie, and only 50 yards from a quad road, it was laying behind a juniper so the riders missed it! Just Brigg's luck!
jackshoe Report post Posted May 29, 2008 nice looking dog-I have a Vizsla named Delbert. These dogs are so smart I think you could get them to do about anything if they understand what you want. nice looking shed. Shed hunting is a lot of fun and helps you learn new areas-but I'd much rather be looking for a quail with my dog-wouldn't you?
GRONG Report post Posted June 5, 2008 Looks like that's proof that I can't find all the elk antlers in my neck of the woods........ Now get back to finding coues sheds and snakes and get the heck out of my country!
JayAz Report post Posted June 6, 2008 Vizsla's seem to have a knack for finding bones. Every time I take mine out into the woods he seems to find elk femurs, antlers, etc. and as a pup he liked to go raid camps nearby and bring back the discarded legs. I am convinced you could train one to hunt sheds just like quail. Just haven't put the time into trying yet.
