Lets see pics of cool finds

Recommended Posts

Ok, I'm bored.  Lets see some pictures of some of the cool stuff found while out in the mountains and deserts.  Here are a few of the ones I've found.IMG_1837.thumb.JPG.d010d7ac7f1bc715221468569c1b8433.JPGMy "Number One rock".  This pic makes it look like

it is inset but the other pic shows it is raised.  Don't know if it is man made or nature wore it away.  Either way it is pretty unique.  The next one looks like a face (to me it does) from the shoulders up.IMG_1831.thumb.JPG.4897a90948d2745a49dbe62a5784daad.JPGIMG_1836.thumb.JPG.c5e24d0c1f7e6012b2d1b36b92864c6d.JPGThird one is a rock with a red core going all the way  thru.   IMG_1830.thumb.JPG.154736ade308d639b4edb9a377dbcde3.JPGMy favorite arrowhead -all quartz.  Found it while archery hunting elk in unit 10 many years ago.  When I found it I imagined an Indian hundreds of years ago hunting this same spot and wondered if he was able to feed his family with it.  I went home hungry.  Lets see what you guys have?!

Cool stuff.

Number 'One' rock looks like the edges have been knapped, may be artifact.

Third one looks like slag, have you run a magnet across it?

Not really what you're looking for, but I "found" a Rosy-faced Lovebird munching seeds out of my bird feeder this morning!  I didn't even know we had those suckers here in AZ.  Working from home has started to turn me into a hack-birder. ;)

BTW, the arrow heads are cool.  I used to find shards of pottery in various places around Kearny where I grew-up, but I never could come-up with an arrow head.  Awesome!

I have see quite a few in North Mesa for almost 20 years. There are also some large long tailed green parrots in ASU Research Park.

I found this old canteen this last weekend.  Unfortunately it didn't have any markings.

Nah. I'm keeping it conservative. But remember, if it's an artifact on public lands, take pics but leave it where ya found it.
