I knew the PT boat commander that removed MacArthur from Corregidor. After the mission the PT squadron returned to their base in Palawan just as the base commander was surrendering to the Japanese. Wainwright was not 'waited on' for the Tokyo bay signings. days before he had lunch with MacArthur for the famous photograph. after the signings he was flown for night and day back to the Philippines to take the surrender of Yamashitas' army at Baguio city, Luzon. he was a great soldier and cavalryman-General Skinny Wainwright. lee Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
