Coues Sniper Report post Posted May 21, 2008 Does anyone have any experience with these? (Hanwag Mountain Light GTX) I usually buy a pair of lightweight Salomon or Vasque boots for Coues hunts, which work great, but they normally get torn up in a season or so and the support isn't the greatest. I'm planning a backpack archery deer hunt in Nevada this year and was looking to step up to some better boots that are still light and warm weather minded, but offer a bit more support and last a while longer. These seem to fit the bill perfect (they weigh like 2 lbs a pair) but they better be freaking awesome at that price. I'm also worried that the Vibram sole may be noisy. Any info is appreciated http://lathropandsons.com/catalog/product_.../products_id/63 Thanks, Kevin
Browning'sCustomMeat Report post Posted May 21, 2008 Hey Kevin, I'd try the Asolo Boots. Under $200 and are IMO, the best there is. -J-

I have been using a pair of LOWA Tibet's and Alaska Hunters by Meindl and would not hestitate to buy either one of them again. My wife who hunts/scouts as much as i do has a pair of Meindl Denali's and Meindl Teton II's and have been great for her. She also order a new pair Kenetrek Mountain Boots and just got them and look like great boots also. We will see how she feels at the end of the summer or fall after breaking them in. I have been thinking about getting another pair to start breaking in and was thinking about trying the Lathrop & Sons Banks GTX , Alaska GTX or another pair of Lowa Tibet's. Let me know if you get a pair of the Mountain Light GTX's and what you think. I don't think they are all leather and that scares me in thorny Arizona. Coues Sniper Report post Posted May 29, 2008 I'd really like to try them out, I'm sure they are great boots (they ask that you send 5 pictures and an outline of each foot with your order so they can make them fit as perfect as possible ) I'm just not sure i can justify dropping that much cash on boots. They are exactly what I am looking for though. I'm also trying to save for what in all likelihood will be the ultimate hunting rifle of all time as well. I just need more hunting money.
