.270 Report post Posted May 19, 2008 boy this sounds like a coverup in the makin' here. hounds wouldn't open on it? big animal? sounds wolfish to me. usually don't take too long to determine what kind of animal was in an attack. tracks, hair, etc. maybe the fix is in. we'll see. hunter4life Report post Posted May 20, 2008 I live 10 minutes from those mountains and can pretty much guarantee it wasn't a wolf. The Sandia mountains have bear, lion, bobcat, and coyote. The closest wolves are quite a ways South and West of here. Supposedly some hair was collected from the child's clothes, so hopefully that will provide the answer.
