pkita99 Report post Posted March 4, 2020 Looking for a chicken coop for 6-8 chickens or contact of someone who can build one for reasonable price. I know I can build one myself but just super busy with other projects at the moment. Located in Flagstaff but have a truck and could pick it up. Any leads would be very appreciated. Thank you. n2horns Report post Posted March 4, 2020 Just buy rotisserie chickens from Costco. UrbanNorthern – Urban Northern Coops https://www.urbannorthern.com/ 2
Boarman03 Report post Posted March 4, 2020 And the eggs? Try raising turkeys. Fewer eggs, but they are big, and harder to crack. One Tom and two hens, with you chickens would work.
Boarman03 Report post Posted March 4, 2020 You'll have to insulate and heat for the winter?

UrbanNorthern – Urban Northern Coops https://www.urbannorthern.com/ This is mostly for eggs, worst case if they become too much they'll end up in the smoker. Those are some nice coops. Do you have any experience with this company?

Boarman03 Report post Posted March 5, 2020 Really nice looking coop! Top notch for looks. Mine is an old large outhouse looking thing. Raised a lot of birds, recovered a lot of eggs. Nothing like real (fertilized) eggs with slightly orange yolks.
Boarman03 Report post Posted March 5, 2020 Hens stop laying with shorter days. Leave a light on and they'll keep going or kick back in. Cold, like extreme heat, stresses the bird making it more susceptible to disease and or causing hypothermia and thus death. Good nutrition and clean water are obviously also very important.
