25-06 is my choice only because that is what I have. Everyone is all GA-Ga about the 6,5 Creedmore, and I agree it is a great solution for antelope.

If you are buying for this hunt, anything from the 25,  26,  6.5,  7MM, 28,  or 30 cal all work. Shoot what you shoot best.

For AZ pronghorn I have used:

.270 Win M70, 140Gr Nosler BT, 120 yards

. 45 cal Knight MK85, 490 gr home poured lead slug, 95 gr Pyrodex Select, 75 yards

. 45 cal, same rifle & load, 125 yards

. 50 cal Knight Wolverine, unfilled tag, was real picky and didn't take my target buck

.270 Win M70, 140Gr Nosler Partition, 150 yards

No plain old .243 Win.?  Hmm.  Pronghorns are not difficult to kill.  Folks in WY and MT and ID just reach in the broom closet or gun rack and use whatever they have.  I suspect much of the time it is an '06, or a .243 Win. with a record of one-shot kills.  Of course they chuckle when they see us out of state hunters drive over a thousand miles each way and spend a small fortune to whack a speedy goat.  They do like the money though.

I built a 6.5-06 just for Antelope, now I need a tag.  22 BP and still waiting.  Been practicing out to 550 yards.

Also have a 270 WSM that I took a Muley with at 650 yards a few years ago.  Would not hesitate to use that again.

Just checked my notes;

270 Win --8

270 Weatherby--5

50 Cal muzzleloader--6

54 Cal muzzleloader--2

45 Cal muzzleloader--1

Five in Az. One in Utah and the balance in Wyoming. I am an old guy and hunt a lot.

I shot an antelope in MT a couple years ago with a 200gr Accubond in a 300 RUM. 500 yards Dead right there.

if I ever get a tag here in AZ I’ll probably use a 280AI though.

My last and only antelope was in Montana '09.  I used my 30-06 with 150gr Winchester Silvertip factory round.  I wish I had my 444.  Shot was only 70 yards.  I placed the shot, high shoulder where with my 444, everything from small does to big bulls all pancake on the spot.  With the 150 gr silvertip from a 30-06, the bullet exploded on the light shoulder blade.  I was seriously bothered when I saw the antelope run off.  I knew it was gonna circle so I cut it off and dropped it with the next shot.

I prefer one and done.  I think, just because I am such a fan of my 444, on my next antelope hunt, I'll use it with a self designed 237gr cast bullet at @2600 fps.
