doogan Report post Posted February 15, 2020 I have 9 rifles for sale, my buddy’s dad is going into a nursing home so I am helping to sell his collection. I live in the east valley, work in downtown PHX. Can meet at the Mesa Sportsmans Warehouse after work or we can find a location close to downtown. I will be off on Monday 2/17 and can meet any time that day at Sportsmans. 1) Remington 700 BDL in 30-06, manufacture date is in 1980 I believe. It is in good shape. $400 2) Next is a Weatherby Mark 5 in 300 Weatherby mag with a Leupold VX-L 4.5-14x 50. There are some surface scratches on the stock. $900 3) Next is a Ruger M77 heavy barrel tang safety in 26-06 in almost mint condition, few minor surface scratches on stock $700 4) Next is a Winchester model 670 in .243. It looks like a truck gun and is priced as such. Bore looks clean. $350 5) Next is a Winchester model 70 in 240 Gibbs. I had to look this one up, it’s basically a 6mm-06. Dies are available for reloading this round. Does have some scratches. $500 6) Next is another Gibbs round, a 35 Gibbs (35-06) built on a Mauser action. Stock and blueing are in good shape, there is some wiggle on the bolt when fully opened. 7) Next is a Winchester model 1907 in 32. No magazine right now, still looking for it. $800 😎 Next is a Winchester model 61 in 22 WRF. There is some pitting on the barrel, $200 9) And last but definitely not least. A Winchester model 70 Super Grade in 300 Win Mag. An absolutely beautiful rifle in mint condition, still wrapped in its plastic bag and in its box from the factory. $1300

forepaw Report post Posted February 16, 2020 This post is an object lesson in good guns ruined through neglect. Most members on here probably don't know what a Model 61 is, or could care less, but that is a pre-war or early post war (I am pretty sure pre-war), in a classic caliber. It was the finest pump-action rimfire ever made in this country, or anywhere It should be worth 4-5x the asking price, but as it sits, is only useful for parts. A shame. forepaw

A shame. forepaw Because of the pitting on the end of the barrel or did you examine the gun and find more issues? Pitting is unfortunate but stuff happens, especially over 80 years. I have some guns with will no doubt be collectors items someday but I hunt them hard because that’s what they were made for. Natural disasters happen too, floods, leaky pipes etc.
