creed Report post Posted January 23, 2020 I am starting to see lots of does without bucks and single bucks or small groups of bucks. The rut is starting to wind down where I have been hunting. I have also seen multiple bucks pushing a single doe so I am guessing there are some does coming into heat a 2nd time around. The secondary rut can get a little crazy! mattys281 Report post Posted January 23, 2020 Been a few days since I was out, but definitely seems slower. I went through all my trail cam pics since November. Out of a 1/2 dozen or so cameras and a few thousand pics the majority of bucks and the biggest were all between Christmas and first week of January. Been tapering off since. I’m in 20a hunting the thick timber 6000-7000 ft elevation. I’m curious what other guys in the high country have observed?
JSR Report post Posted January 23, 2020 Where I spent January chasing deer, around Hillside / Bagdad, I stopped seeing bucks with the doe groups on January 10th. It seemed to peak around Christmas Day
lancetkenyon Report post Posted January 23, 2020 Going strong in the top of the White Tanks. Saw 8 different bucks today, all with does. Watched a big boy at 1000+ w. 10 does, dogging one hard, and chasing off a smaller buck. Had a dumb one at 40 yards, just hanging with the does.
AZ8 Report post Posted January 26, 2020 Went out this morning for one final hail Mary shot before the January season winds down. Couple hours behind the glass. Nothing but coyotes and a couple does. Very nice morning in the desert.
high rise hunter Report post Posted January 27, 2020 Was out Saturday morning in the desert and the mules were rutting hard. Lots of lip curling and running does hard. Headed south in the AM for one last (two-day) hurrah after Coues deer 🤞
