Foundry Man Report post Posted April 30, 2008 Well, here is a picture of the coues deer sculpture I am working on for the auction at the AZ deer association banquet. This picture is not that great, but what do you all think? Any suggestions? I am at the phase where I need to "tighten" everthing up, and fix all the details. The title (I think) is going to be--"The Escape Artist" But, I'm still thinking. We will see how it looks in bronze! So, give me a good old fashioned critique>>Jason

firstcoueswas80 Report post Posted April 30, 2008 Looks great! I am gonna "nit pick" a little... I personally think his rack is a little "too" massive. Could be just me though.

Kevin Report post Posted April 30, 2008 Jason, not to be too critical cause you have more talent in your little finger than I have in my universe; but you asked. Casey hit on this and maybe it's the angle of the picture but is the neck, head and antlers larger in proportion than the rest of the body? Kevin
COUESAZ Report post Posted May 1, 2008 This just goes to show that some of us have seen a trophy class coues and Casey has not. Just a joke just a joke I think it looks great the neck might be more Elkish than coues deer is all i can think may seem out of shape on this great chocolate bunny deer. I hope that i get that next year in my easter basket. Foundry man i saw you on a blog the other day. HAHA no one is safe from my blog stalking wife. We must know some of the same folks. Heck, that's art........doesn't have to be anatomically correct! I think it looks awesome, and Casey.........there can NEVER be too much mass!!!!

HBU Report post Posted May 3, 2008 I'm going to have to agree with FCW80, although it looks great, it does have a (too much something) to it. I don't know if it's mass or definition or what. It looks awsome don't get me wrong, but there is something that my mind sees that is different. Nice work though. I wish I had that kind of talent.
Foundry Man Report post Posted May 3, 2008 Thanks for the suggestions. I took them and "trimmed" things down a little. I think it looks much better now. I stare at the thing for hours and I don't see stuff like a "fresh" set of eyes do. Hopefully, things dont get screwed up in the bronze pour, and some of you can see this thing in person at the ADA banquet. Again, thanks>>Jason
