Rembrant Report post Posted November 18, 2004 Bullwidgeon's right. The bears ate 'em all. And the Couse Painting "Solitude" is in unit 24A. That buck is for real. Mark Clark killed it - scored 114 Gross (but from a different location in 24A). I think a photo of that buck is in the photo section of this site on one of the very first pages. Cousi1: whitetail detection synapses??? In binoculars??!! What th??!! Mike
muskeg Report post Posted November 18, 2004 Yes I did Ultramag .... I just sent one your way .... Funny thing is that Bcoover told me to go look in the same place and I'd probably come out of there with a 135 buck, but Rembrant told me (about the same place) I probably wouldn't see ANY deer, not even a carp (am I learnen?), because they are an endangered species in that unit. Rembrant also told me I should just stay up here and hunt Blacktail and next year get my numbers right ..... It's 32 not 23 ..... Anyway I think I'll come just the same ..... You'll be abe to tell it's me by the blaze orange vest with 'non-resident hunter' in black letters on the back ..... as per the new law that just passed in the wake of the Tallman fiasco !!!!!! If your around on about day 4 or 5 I plan on being at the Antlers looking for Bcoover to show him that 135 (at least 80) buck. Good luck to you Dec #23 hunters and I hope you get the buck of your dreams. Thanks again ...... Johnnie
Rembrant Report post Posted November 18, 2004 Johnnie, I thought I was sending you to Timbucktoo. There's a 135 incher in there??! You learn real fast. Now you gotta figure out who to believe. I can tell you for a fact that I just make stuff up as I go along. If I were you, I would stick with Bcoover's advice. Maybe you'll get lucky and find that wide-racked buck he's been talkin about. I also wish a ton of success to all those with a 23 tag. (You're gonna need it!) Mike
Couesi1 Report post Posted November 18, 2004 Hey Rembrandt, First off.....its Couesi1, not Cousi1. Secondly and most importantly.......if you aren't familiar with the delicate intracacies of the whitetail detection synapses of a good set of binoculars, you could be beyond help. However, this does shed some light on the fact that you can't find any deer in Unit 23, and now we all know why. Maybe you should have your binocular detection synapses tuned up. bcoover Report post Posted November 19, 2004 No one is going to find that wide rack buck but me. Mike that isn't the only place I hunt like I said I know a lot of good places in that unit and I plan on going to all of them before I pick out the deer I am going to shoot. I know right where the wide buck is I don't need to shoot him opening morning. I plan on having a good hunt and shooting that buck late Sunday night. The only way I will fill my tag before that is if I see a bigger buck in some of my other places. You got look at all you spots before you can make up your mind. Rembrant Report post Posted November 19, 2004 Ouch CooosiI, that hurt! - And after you said that nice thing about me killing a 100 incher! I can't spell Rembrant either; there's sposed to be a D between the n and t!!!! Whats a synapses anyway? Can I get one installed? A doctor told me once that I used to have a bunch of 'em. He ought a know about binoculars, he's got his own line of high powered ones with his name on em. I wish I knew what you know about 23, Bcoover. You sound really confident! Couesi1 Report post Posted November 19, 2004 RembranDt, I was just funnin'. Sounds to me like you are the man for unit 23. or you and that bcoover guy. Anyway, you can purchase extra whitetail detection synapseeez real cheap at Radio Shack.....they have them for all brands.......unless you're using the low rate type glasses.......i.e. Swarovskis. Now if you got them Docters, you're in business. Couesi1
bcoover Report post Posted November 19, 2004 Mike I am very confident. When you do all the scouting and check all the places you will be confident. The key to my success is not just hunting one area. Since I have done so much scouting I know of some good spots. It is easy to know so much about a unit when you love going up there. I think most hunters find a good spot and hunt it until there are very low amounts of deer. I see the same archery hunter each year in the same spot. He seems to always bag a deer but they aren't very big. If he would just hunt somewhere else for a change then the numbers will be bigger. Plus I think he nees to focus on shooting mature bucks instead of shooting the young bucks. They are there he just doesn't want to get off his butt and out of his tree stand. treestandman1 Report post Posted November 19, 2004 I'm curious to see weather Bcoover or Rembrant gets a bigger buck. Bcoover is that 135 inch buck typical or nontypical?
