Born in AR, been in Dodge City, Ft. Worth, Leadville, Tombstone. According to a 2005 CNN report 450,000 people a year have a chance to see his name, but unless you do a little research very few have ever heard of him.

Came across him last week while researching someone else. At one time, he owned a share of the famous Long Branch Saloon in Dodge City.

And the Oriental in Tombstone and the White Elephant in Ft. Worth. The Long Branch ownership is what kicked off the Dodge City War. Luke was a vicious killer, he shot Charlie Storms twice before he hit the ground, then went back to playing cards.

I have a set of books from Time-Life that are all about the old West. Right now they are packed away in a box in one of my closets because I ran out of room on my book shelves. They have faux leather covers with an image to illustrate the topic of each one.

You can buy other individual books on eBay quite cheap. I'm going to sell my set shortly but won't be breaking it up.
