Red Rabbit Report post Posted April 19, 2008 Tyson, Here is a discussion of watches that I recalled on another board. These suggestions would probably be better than having Casey's GPS duct taped to your arm. http://24hourcampfire.com/ubbthreads/ubbth...rue#Post1910889 Some backpacking boards may also give some good suggestions. A Casio I had years ago had an alarm that was barely audible, causing me to oversleep several times. Doug~RR
Outdoor Writer Report post Posted April 19, 2008 Some backpacking boards may also give some good suggestions. A Casio I had years ago had an alarm that was barely audible, causing me to oversleep several times. Doug~RR All alarms that use a high-pitched beep are inaudible to this long-time shooter who no longer hears sounds in that range. When I travel, I carry a small wind-up alarm that emits a VERY loud buzz! It always packed in one of the small compartments of my soft duffle.-TONY
BASS Report post Posted April 19, 2008 My vote goes to the G-shock series. I wear one at work and while out hunting. It holds up great to cell extractions, and being knocked around while rolling around on the ground. So far it still looks new, except for a small white scratch on the side where it was pinned to a white wall and dragged down. I like that the face of the watch is recessed below the bezel making it nearly impossible to scratch it.
NRS Report post Posted April 20, 2008 I picked up a Timex at SW that is water resistant to 100M and has a temperature sensor that seems to be pretty accurate once it is off your body. It also has LARGE numbers that I can see without reading glasses as well as a bezel that sticks up a little to keep the glass from getting scratched. I think it was a little over $50. I cant remember the model name.

Redman Report post Posted April 20, 2008 Not sure what your price range is, but Sunnto watches are probably the best for outdoor activities. Some even have a GPS built in. Redman
GameHauler Report post Posted April 21, 2008 I am not sure why people ware watches. The only time I care about time is when I have to get up (Alarm clock) and when I close my shop (Clock on the wall) I am with Casey on the GPS for field work. The only time I give a hoot about time in the field is when the Critter took a nose dive in the dirt. I get such a kick at people looking at their watch every 2 minutes.(or less) I love seeing someone look at their watch and then ask them what time it is. I Bet you they will look at their watch again to tell what the time is because they don't have a clue. It's a habit just like chewing fingernails or puffing on a butt Have fun and give a try when you see someone look at that piece of jewelery on their wrist and ask them to tell you what time it is without looking at their TIME PIECE. I think maybe GFD should outlaw the use of Time Pieces during a hunt because the Critter has a been known to come in around 7:25AM. That would be unfair chase
BASS Report post Posted April 22, 2008 I never wore a watch until I started working where I do. Now when ever I don't have one on it drives me nuts!
