couesdiehard Report post Posted April 23, 2008 I am pretty discouraged by this hunt recommendations process too. What I realized much too late is that when the Commission approved the "Hunt Guidelines for 2008-2009 and 2009-2010" was your only real opportunity to have a chance to change the direction the Dept. was going in for the next two years. Those guidelines were approved in August of 2007. Once they were approved the recommendations are pretty much a done deal for the next two years. It has been a real education for me. I guarantee in summer of 2009, when they produce the next set of guidelines I will participate in the discussion heavily and I hope many members of this site will too. Lee Lee, don't feel too bad about missing out on the August 2007 meeting. It wouldn't have made any difference. There were almost 100 hunters at the August 2007 meeting in Flagstaff. Most were bowhunters from Phoenix, organized by David Myrick, to voice their opposition to the "proposed" bowhunting restrictions. One of the commissioners, frustrated by all the hunters who wanted to speak, whined "I'm tired! I've been here two days and I want to go home!" Another commissioner told Dick King to "sit down and shut up!" The process is a fraud. The commission is a dictatorship. It's all about power, personal agendas, and $$$. couesdiehard Report post Posted April 23, 2008 Well you may have saved me yet another lesson in frustration Bowsniper. I probably should not waste my time or breath come summer 2009.. Then again I am nothing if not pig-headed. Meanwhile I am finding the good I can in the new hunt structures and will make the best of it. Every year it seems you need to study harder just to draw a decent hunt in AZ. My wife and I own lifetime licenses though, so I'm not going to give up. wetmule Report post Posted April 23, 2008 I'd have to disagrre with Mark's comment regarding Leonard, after knowing him a little bit I would say he's anything but pompous and arrogant. He is just doing his job and like alot of us takes direction from above, in his case the Director and the Commission. Now as for a "Bellicose" commission I'd have to completely agree with you there are several members that I would say without question are hostile, arrogant and pompous and the sooner their terms are over the better, in my opinion. I also agree with you on Dick King, you won't find a more humble nicer guy.
