Explorer Report post Posted October 3, 2019 Forest service extended the fire closure from october 1st to october 24th. All of 17b from williamson valley rd west along campwood rd to the yolo ranch is still closed. Only about a mile of the north side of fair oaks is open. Alot of good country that is untouched by the fire is in the closure area. Im not sure why the forest service closed so much off. Good luck and post pictures!!
MT_Sourdough Report post Posted October 4, 2019 So many deer moving along the fire's edge right now. Problem is, if shooter hits the deer and that deer then runs south, shooter ends up in legal conundrum.

Problem is, if shooter hits the deer and that deer then runs south, shooter ends up in legal conundrum. That's actually a very easy fix and we talk about this very scenario in Hunter Ed classes all the time. The hunter has a legal right to retrieve their downed animal. The correct procedure is to call AGFD, report it, and the WM can then work with FS to legally retrieve. You'll only have a legal issue if you enter the closure without reporting the downed/hit animal.
