TAM Report post Posted April 10, 2008 I think it's about time for the areas north of the ditch to be draw only.
missedagain Report post Posted April 10, 2008 I am just curious what the left over tag list is going to look like
bowhuntinmaniac Report post Posted April 10, 2008 There wont be any LO tags north of the CR.....the proposal is 1000 tags and their estimate last year was over 2000 bowhunters, which will cause those hunters to go into the OTC units. Which in turn, will cause those units to go to a draw in the next 5 years. Watch what you wish for......
bobbyo Report post Posted April 10, 2008 I noticed they added rifle tag numbers in 1 and 3a. I'am sure glad they are keeping rifle hunters happy. Don't want them greedy bowhunters shooting all the rifle hunters deer. There is a total of 800 tags in unit 7. So that means Unit 7 has 80 deer for every 100 in Kaibab right. Guess what unit is going to have left over tags, plus with deer and elk right next to each other unit 7 will have a hunter occupying every waterhole for an entire month. I thought 27 was going to a draw also. What happened. Bob
coues krazy Report post Posted April 10, 2008 I agree on the kaibab needing to go to a draw. I was up there last year and it was as overcrowded as I have ever seen. The first weekend as I was in camp in the evenings, about every 15 minutes somone would pull in looking for a camping spot. This same road 6 years ago had no one on it for 5 days! I hope to draw up there this year. Cant hunt in a more awesome part of the state, and have a chance at a huge buck and turkey. It will also not be over run with kalifornians. cpugsie Report post Posted April 10, 2008 I agree with the draw for the Kaibab. I stopped hunting there 10 years ago. It use to be just awesome! Not sure what to think about the other places. I'm not so sure all the people that use to go to the Kaibab will end up in the other units. A majority of the people up there were out of staters looking for the chance at a monster muley. They probably should have reduced the number to 500 tags and had two hunts for the Kaibab. Same amount of tag oppourtunities with less pressure at one time. coues krazy Report post Posted April 10, 2008 I like the two seperate hunt idea. Can you imagine actually being able to find a water hole without a treestand in it? Sure wish g&f would consider that idea.
bcoover Report post Posted April 10, 2008 I like the idea. I think it will make for a better hunt for those that get drawn. There will always be other units to hunt in.
mattys281 Report post Posted April 10, 2008 Don't know about those other units, but I didn't see enough hunters in unit 1 last Aug. to warrant a draw.
