Favorite Trophy's

Recommended Posts

Like usual I don't think I have any one favorite, they are all special. But these are favorites because.................

Because it was Alaska and because of the incredible size of the critter...........

Because of how hard I hunted and who I shared it with............

Because these are both our biggest and because Pops and I hunted together for them........Also they both score almost the same, mine 109 5/8 and Pops 109 7/8!

Because it was spot n' stalk and mainly 'cause it was with a bow............

I'll stop there..........I can justify any critter I've taken as my favorite for one reason or other, but those have to be top of the list.......I think :P

Thanks for all the great pic's! JIM>

Quail slam with Ihunt2Live's dogs... one of my favorites because I havent heard of too many people doing it with out moving the truck!

Believe it or not, this is one of my favorites because I learned alot of not bragging yourself up and saying im gonna do this and do that before the hunt. Still leaves a bad tast in my mouth! Plus, this was the first hunt I have shot at a big game animal and not killed it.

Holy Cow Casey I didn't realize your cat still had spots! I know you've been getting ribbed for shooting a small one but I didn't realize it was a kitten......... literally! How old did the G&F estimate it's age and how much did it weigh? Do you have any field pic's with you and the cat both in the pic?

This was last Septembers trophy. A few of my others are on film and need to be scanned.

Some of my best trophys are hunts where I did not even bag an animal.

this is my favorite buck that I shot back in 1991.Its my favorite because of what i had to go thru to get it. it was on a december tag where on the 2nd weekend of the hunt i was out with my brother on saturday morning and had a 80" buck standing broadside at 90 yards and missed him 3 times completly. later on in the evening we jumped a monster 4x4 at 20 yards and i missed him twice running. to say i was totally dejected would be an understatement. i had work all that next week and didn't get out till the following sunday. it had rained saturday night so it was quite foggy and wet that morning. as i walked along i kept reminding myself to look for the crosshairs and put them on the chest if i got a chance at another deer.well i had hiked about a mile and a half in and had sat down to get a drink of water.as i lowered my canteen i caught a face looking at me from under a oak tree. i thought to myself that "man, that looks like a deer." so i slowly put my water down and picked up my binoc's. as i looked at him i caught sight of his eyeguards and thought he was a spike since the rest of his rack was hidden by the brush. i put down the binoculars and picked up my rifle and put the crosshairs on him. at the recoil of the shot he erupted from behind the tree and shot up the cut he was in. i took 2 more running shots at him before he disappeared in some oaks. my heart sank, i couldn't believe i could have missed such an easy shot.i reloaded and watched the saddle he had headed up to see if he would top out. after a couple of minutes not seeing any movement i went to look for any signs of a hit. when i came around an oak tree about 80 yards up in the cut here lay my buck shot dead thru the neck. I let out a whoop and a hollar so load that it musta echoed thru the canyon and into the next county. i've shot bigger deer since then but this one will always hold that special place as number one.
