azhuntnut Report post Posted April 4, 2008 Does anybody here own one of the new Super Duty's with the 6.4 diesel? If so, I would like to hear some feedback on it. I especially want to know real world fuel mileage, and mileage while towing. Anything else you want to add would be great. David

More D Report post Posted April 5, 2008 I was wondering the same thing? I have been looking into them also. There seems to be a ton of them for sale used and they just came out. Look at autotrader.com and there are a bunch for sale at huge savings, makes me wonder if there is some sort of issue with them. Twin turbo problems???? longshooter Report post Posted April 5, 2008 I have a 2008 F-250 4x4 crew cab with the king ranch package. Currently I have 14,500 miles on it and i'm getting 14-15 mpg in town and around 17-18 on the highway as long as I keep it under 70 mph. When I first got it I was average 11-12 mpg for the first 5000 miles and ever since then it has slowly been going up. 2 weeks ago I left vegas pulling a 10,000 trailor and went from vegas to bullhead to kingman to phoenix. I averaged 11 mpg for the whole trip and i was running 75-90 the whole way. And there is a long 8-10% grade when your going from bullhead to king man. I ran that grade between 75-80 with out a problem. Only issues I have had is I had to replace the radiator a few months ago because it had a leak were at a seam. Ford has had a few issues with the radiators when they first came out but have addressed the problem. I think there a great truck with a ton of power. The only thing I don't like about them is they have a dpf wich is a filter in the exhaust . it filters out the exhaust so good the ends of my pipe still looks brand new. Every so often the truck will go into regeneration in wich there is a small amount of diesel fuel injected into the exhaust and the idle is raised in order to clean the soot out of the dpf. This is the biggest reason the gas mileage is down from the 7.3 and 6.0 motor

azhuntnut Report post Posted April 5, 2008 I have a duramax now, but it is out of its warranty period. For some reason this truck has had its fair share of problems. Ford has a 5k rebate right now, plus some low interest financing. I think it looks better than any of the other HD trucks, and seems to be built a little stronger. I drove one this morning and really liked the ride. I don't need a new truck, but if I can pick one of these up for the right price it would be worth it. GameHauler Report post Posted April 5, 2008 I think Dodge has the best drive train and Chevy has the best comfort and ford is right there in the middle of both. If I were to replace my 01 Superduty I think it would be with a DOdGe. God I hate saying that

Try buying a 4 or 6 cyl truck right now. They are flying off the lot. Gas will never be under $3.00 / gallon again. Wait until Toyota comes out with their 6 cyl turbo diesel here in the states. 30+ miles gal. I guarantee it will be the #1 selling truck. http://www.autoweb.com.au/cms/A_53040/titl...ewsarticle.html

azhuntnut Report post Posted April 5, 2008 I have looked at the Dodges before, and wasn't impressed with overall quality. I know the motors are great, but the rest of the truck seems to let loose around the drivetrain. The last couple Duramax's I have owned pulled great for me and got decent mileage when I wasn't smokin the rice burners. Ford has a video you can watch now that shows the differences in the big three. I was really surprised to see just how heavy duty the parts were on the Ford. The new Toyota just does nothing for me. I own a Toyota right now, and it has been a great vehicle. I guess I will just drive the new Chevy and Ford on the same day to see what I like most between the two. This would be my first Ford if it goes in that direction. David
matthewp45 Report post Posted April 5, 2008 I had a lemon 2008 F-250 I got it up to 40,000 miles in 10 months at work and it was in the shop for about 2 months. It was in for radiator 3 times, heads once, radiator fan once, Electrical short twice and some other minor things. I gave it back to Ford and got a new one exactly the same and I have 10,000 miles on it without one problem. Go figure. I work in agriculture so I travel field roads all of the time and I get 11 1/2 miles per gallon honestly.
