What are the best binos for a little amount of money?

What size? I would have to say the VORTEX brand has several models to fit any budget. I have a pair of 12x50 vortex paid $289.00 for em. They are good glasses, just lack the low light performance I desired. I have found that the difference between the "cheap" glasses and the not so cheap glasses is attention to detail. Check them out, see what you think, good luck.

Also, take a look at the Alpen brand especially the Apex or Shasta Ridge lines. Very good glass at an excellent price.

With inexpensive glasses, you should get a better image with Porro prism binos as opposed to roof prism, and lower magnification over high. I have read some nice reports of the Leupold Yosemite bino for right at 100 bucks. One model is the 8x32.

Here's a review of some mid-priced binos

and another (two years old)

Nikon Monarch 10x42

I have seen several pairs knocked out of columnation. I attribute it to the small weak frames. You can actually tweak them with both hands and the frame will flex. However they do have a good warranty.

I have the Nikon Monarchs and am in no hurry to upgrade. I have been more than happy with them.

I think I will get a pair nikon 15x60 I looked throgh them and very good low light picture

You might want to get a lower mag. and Obj. for the lower end of optics.

They will serve you well in years to come as a short range glass and you

can lend them to buds or upcoming kids.

Save some money and stick it in your sock drawer for upgrades.

About $2000.00 to start with.

Good luck on your hunt
