My new varmint weapon

Recommended Posts

A couple months ago I decided I wanted to get a gun with a fast follow up shot for varmint hunting. After spending at least twenty hours reading through tons of posts on other websites, I decided to build an AR-15 chambered in .223. Since I am a lefty, it was hard to just buy one off of the shelf the way I wanted it. The lower receiver is made by Arizona Armory. One thing I really liked about this lower is the Arizona flag engraved on the side, plus I was able to pick serial number 48. For those that don't know, Arizona was the 48th state accepted into the union. The upper is from Stag Arms. It is a true left hand receiver, with all the components switched to the other side. I got the barrel from White Oak Armament with a 1/7 twist so I could shoot the heavier bullets, and added a muzzle brake that forces the muzzle blast forward. A crisp drop in 4.5lb Timney skeletinized trigger. Command Arms six position stock with an Enidine hydralic buffer inside. To top it off, I went with a new Nikon Monarch 5-20x44 BDC reticle scope.

I took it out this morning and did a little shooting at Ben Avery. The first two shots to get it on paper were almost touching. I put a few more through it, but set it aside so my boy could shoot some other guns I brought out. I am going back out again on Friday to get the scope set up so I can hunt with it on Saturday. Here are a few pics during the build and at BA. David

pretty nice. thats not the scope id put on it personally, but a nice rig.

Casey, I try to avoid other brands of scopes that could cause me to shoot the horns off of an animal. David
