bobbyo Report post Posted March 21, 2008 I was wondering which states still have otc bow tags for August-September deer hunts. Any experience and advice would be greatly appreciated. I am curious for two reasons. I probably will not be drawn in Arizona and I am tired of seeing that monster archery buck thread. Bob

bowhuntinmaniac Report post Posted March 23, 2008 North Dakota has some great bucks, is OTC, and their archery season goes from Labor Day weekend thru December, so is very easy to fit into yer schedule....
TAM Report post Posted March 23, 2008 It's too late to apply for archery hunts in Utah, but they always have left over non resident archery deer tags for sale on a first come basis. You may want to do a little research there. If you're interested PM me and I'll tell you exactly where to go and see lots of deer. It's always a fun hunt especially if you're ok with seeing lots of 16-18 inch three points. I think the archery hunt up there starts a week or so before Arizona's and runs for a few weeks. Good luck! CnS I think my new screen name will be Bitterness and Jealousy. I believe they are different. Jealousy is an unrequited longing and bitterness is resentful pain. Describes me perfectly. Great ideas so far. Missouri and North Dakota sound interesting. Plus is North Carolina the state you can harvest up to five animals or is there nothing but rednecks wearing powder blue sweatshirts with UNC lettering on the front in that state? Tam, I have been on the Utah hunt twice, I have a mossy antlered forky to prove it. I didn't realize there is otc tags there. This hunt is a lot of fun and I would recommend it to beginning bow hunters or to nimrods that want to get their hands bloody. Great way to start the year! Does anyone know about hunting in the national forest by San Diego. I believe it is one of the earliest seasons, yet could not figure out the California regulations or get a unit map from their web site. Almost made me appreciate AZ. G.F. Almost Bob
jamaro Report post Posted March 24, 2008 This stuff about NC is too funny... I am in Raleigh as I type this. There was a bunch of sad Duke fans at the airport last night... J-

Red Rabbit Report post Posted March 24, 2008 You might look at the Idaho and Oregon regs for OTC/general opportunities.
crazy4COUES Report post Posted March 25, 2008 Also New Mexico has an OTC turkey hunt for non-res, $129.00 gets you 2 turkey tags and license.
mattys281 Report post Posted April 1, 2008 Most of Californias units are first-come basis. I believe you have to draw for the X-zones though. I spoke to their G&F earlier today & the lady said that it wasn't an issue in the B-zones, as they always have left-overs. Matt S.
