Buckhunter Report post Posted March 17, 2008 I wish I had a bear tag, I was out in 23 doing a early shed hunt/hike and glassed up a nice bear with my new 15 Swaro's. The wind was blowing pretty good. I swept the hillside with my new Vortex 8x42 and saw two black spots that needed a better look. I got my 15's out and a Bear was lying out warming up. I went to ajust my tripod and after a little juggling trying not to drop my new glass in the rocks, I steadied back up and spotted a buck walking around very tense. The 50 mph wind gust had him pretty nervous. He was just a tall 2 point. The buck was only 150 yards below the Bear. No sheds to pick up but saw alot of critter tracks and alot of deer sign. I'll be back in 2 weeks. Nice to see alot of water running in the creeks. A few more days and the hills will be very colorful. As I was walking around I could see the purple starting to bloom. Here some pics.
azryan Report post Posted March 17, 2008 awesome! thanks for sharing the story and pics. How were the road conditions up there?
Buckhunter Report post Posted March 17, 2008 someone drove in their and made 8 inch deep ruts in the road. And someone was chasing lions in there right after the last rain. The horseshoe tracks were 3-4 inches deep. Saw hound and lion tracks in the trail. Other than that it was ok.
Packer Report post Posted March 17, 2008 Sounds like a good outing. That is neat to hear about the bear sighting. I think that is the first of the year I have heard about. Packer
