CouesWhitetail Report post Posted March 10, 2008 Well, my husband and I took a drive to Safford the other day to pick up that bronze from Foundryman and the amount of poppies blooming on the San Carlos reservation was amazing! Peridot mesa is just amazing right now. From a distance, it looks like God just poured some buckets of golden paint down the slopes. here are few pics: And then we went up and over the pinal mnts to the south side and saw an amazing amount of poppies on the lower slopes back there. We hadn't ever seen poppies like that back there. This pic is a merging of several pics in an attempt to show you the panorama. Not a great pic, but the flowers were impressive! I don't know all the rules on it, but I think only tribal members get to mine it and they have to have a permit of some kind. Maybe a permitted tribal member would be willing to let you tag along? Not sure. Amanda

CouesWhitetail Report post Posted March 13, 2008 It really is an amazing year for poppies. And of course the photos really don't do it justice, but we try anyway. Anyone been to Picacho peak to see the poppies this year? I imagine it must be stellar over there or maybe it already peaked... Amanda
