CatfishKev Report post Posted April 17, 2019 Completly new experience for us, only ever done "party boat" type fishing until this trip. Lost a few good ones but landed enough to be dang happy. Me and the younger boy got sea sick but not too bad. I learned a valuble lesson about taking dramamine before you get to the boat! We had a blast though, Pickles catching the grouper was just icing on the cake

ctafoya Report post Posted April 17, 2019 I got sea sick when I went. Threw up all down the side of the boat. Started catching sharks immediately after. Chumming works! I took Dramamine before and it didn't help. Still had a great time anyway.

NOTAGS Report post Posted April 18, 2019 I had two friends as a kid that were brothers, both would always get seasick, but neither would stay home when we went out from Cholla. I always kidded them about drinking something bright for when they hurled, usually it was Orange Crush or Strawberry Shasta. Once the fish started biting they usually recovered somewhat. Glad you guys had fun, I will be going back there next spring. Hitting my local reefs next weekend.

PRDATR Report post Posted April 19, 2019 Looks like a good time. Is it me or are those fish small? Don't see anything over 10 pounds. Is that the norm for down there?

CatfishKev Report post Posted April 19, 2019 Yes they are small for down there. The yellow bite is dropping off and he gave us the training reels since we were new to bait casters. We were only dropping straight down and ripping them up real fast. After I got comfortable casting out I did hook into a big one but unfortunately the handle broke on the reel right when the sea lion showed up. Still the funnest fishing ive ever done, im seriosly considering another quick trip down there for a second chance.
