Jazz Report post Posted April 6, 2019 So I just bought this one. The guy was questionable.. he told me it used to have glycerin. Looks brand new. Can I haul drinking water in this thing?
Roosevelt Mark Report post Posted April 6, 2019 I wouldn't risk it. Grey water, I would say ok but not for drinking. We have hundreds and hundreds of totes just like it full of some bad stuff. So they are out there. I would buy a new one for drinking water.
Jazz Report post Posted April 6, 2019 I should note, the inside is clean and smells sweet.. if it *was* glycerin, game on?
Roosevelt Mark Report post Posted April 6, 2019 If you are sure that it was a USP product. I think you can get them new for under 300 bucks.
PRDATR Report post Posted April 6, 2019 Glycerin can be used as a sweetener but some people have allergic reactions to it.
ctafoya Report post Posted April 6, 2019 glycerin is water soluble and should rinse out, but I wouldn't risk it.
StickFlicker Report post Posted April 7, 2019 I would think you could wash it out as good as possible, then "swish" some water around in it, then take that water to a lab for testing?
Roosevelt Mark Report post Posted April 7, 2019 That would be ideal, don't know the cost is to shoot it. Probably what it cost for a new tote.
