Some good ideas.

1. I personally think a youth story catagory is one that should be considered.

2. Another idea is to incorporate a banquet with the contest. It would be awesome to see a hundred or so CWT.comer's all come together share the pics, stories. Display the actual racks, mounts of the critters.

3. The previous year's winner should most definitly have a say in the "passing of the crown" to the new winners.

I like the idea of a good story, however I would limit the length to reflect a typical magazine article with pictures of course.

With the increase, and hopefully a continued increase of available prizes, I would also leave the categories we already have. There is an advantage in my opinion to those who hunt in Mexcio and taking a larger animal than here in the states. I realize there are big deer here in Az and in NM but more opportunity to see a big deer down south of the border.

Even though I prized in this event, I will plan on donating more this year than I did last year, and hopefully the 200 or so members who sign up for the contest this year have a generous heart to donate a 5 or 10 dollar bill to the cause.

If any is left over after the fact, I suggest we use it for a get together, or donate it to some worthy childrens charity.

I'm quite aware that there are a lot of outfitters and quides on this site so just let me say up front, "nothing personal." ;)

If you have the bucks you can hire a guide or outfitter to do all your work for you and just show up to shoot a buck they already have scouted....."I'm not saying there is anything wrong with this." B)

Maybe a category for guided/unguided? Just a thought!

I love the idea of more categories for the kids. I would being willing to donate money to help with what ever. I am looking forward to signing up this year for the contest. Maybe we can have a poll to determine the categories..

thanks

TJ, you have a lot of good points here, but this one I dont think falls under that category "nothing personal"

We all know that just because you have a buck scouted out, it isnt a slam dunk! You still gotta find him, close the gap, and the client still has to make the shot. nothing in that seems to be a cake walk to me.....

However, I do think that is a good idea, but not because hiring a guide makes it a slam dunk!

Crazy$coues, Idea number 2 is the best one metioned so far!

I don't think we even had any guided hunts for our AZ or NM entrants, did we? Even if we did, it would be so few that it wouldn't be enough to make a category. And pretty much all Mexico hunts are guided, and those are already separated out.

Amanda.....shows you what I know. :(

Casey......this is my first ever stupid idea.

I do like Hunting6's idea. Maybe have a $5 (mandatory or not) entry fee. :) Who wouldn't donate that amount?
